Taylor Quitara is an American born artist, currently living in Brooklyn, NY.  These images were taken at her studio apartment in Los Angeles before she moved to New York.

She uses oil paint to create her surreal works, and is known for her larger than life pieces. Most of her work is inspired by distant memories, that have become distorted over time. She embraces these false memories, further exaggerating them, and in return they write their own truth.

The inspiration behind the painting titled “Dinner At The In-Laws” comes from the many infamous dinners hosted by her French grandmother. As an outsider looking in, it is easy to overlook the tension, dramatics, and stories that were born from these ritualistic sit-down dinners. Like distant memories, stories become embellished over time.
